Education Philosophy
I truly believe that our ability to constantly learn, adapt and improve ourselves is what makes us human. If we are not constantly trying to learn and improve ourselves then we are not living up to our fullest potential. At their core, I believe all humans want to learn. The problem is, there are sometimes barriers in their way.
As instructional designers, I believe we should be working to make learning as easy as possible for the end user by eliminating the barriers to learning. Our instruction must consider all aspects of the learning experience, and all aspects of the learner. We must ensure accessibility for as many as possible by designing engaging learning experiences that utalize all aspects of visual, auditory and kinetic learning design.
To achieve true engagement and retention, the learning must feel authentic. Taking the time to ensure that the instruction is authentic leads to better outcomes overall for the learner, no matter the learning context.
